(April 1st, 1987)
I am an average individual blessed with an above
average inclination towards technology and its
applications, particularly when it comes to
programming and software design.
I am of the firm belief that technology can be
harnessed in amazing ways to solve a lot of
otherwise hard problems and add immeasurably to the
quality of our lives. I see countless opportunities
for computers to take over repetitive tasks
currently performed by humans, thereby relieving
human intelligence to solve more meaningful and
abstract problems.
A perfectionist streak runs through me and I always
strive to derive maximum returns from intelligently
distributed effort. It is this shade in my persona
that causes me to vehemently denounce
neo-luddites (people or organizations that
resist technological advances). It is certainly a
shame that individuals exist who oppose positive
social change (of which technological advances are a
facet) simply because they perceive it as a threat
to their idyllic, albeit obviously inefficient,
existence. It is seen, at least in countries like
India, that the said individuals reject all
reasoning, not matter how logically sound, and
sometimes even resort to violence to maintain the
hopeless status quo. There is no easy solution to
this but I want to do what I can to be part of the
solution.
Cars loaded with technology are a big draw for me,
and I love deducing and conceptualizing the
nature of the algorithms used to control the safety
and luxury mechanicals. I admire the overall design
and performance of the following cars: Honda Civic,
Audi A4, BMW 5 series, Mercedes Benz S-class and
Audi R8.
I believe in living life with integrity, in
respecting others & their property, standing up for
those who cannot care for themselves, and, generally trying to be the change I want to see in this
world. Today I may not have the power, influence or money to make the big difference I want
to; but one day I will. I will play my small little part in the meanwhile and I encourage
all of you to do the same.
